John is a practising Chartered Town Planner and Registered Valuer and specialises in compulsory acquisition compensation advice, assessment and expert evidence. He is currently serving at the University of Technology Sydney, as Deputy Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Complex Real Property Rights and Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Design, Architecture & Building. He is Chair of the Australian Property Institute's Government Liaison Committee and has prepared submissions to both State and Commonwealth Government inquiries on a range of varied topics such as strata title, water and carbon legislation, development and planning and compensation legislation. John currently chairs the Australian Property Institute Joint NSW & QLD Carbon Property Rights Committee and the Water Property Rights Committee. He is also the Institute's representative on the Environmental Planning & Development Committee of the Law Society of NSW.
John's previous appointments include serving as NSW Vice President and NSW President of the Australian Property Institute for three successive one-year terms, where he is also a Life Fellow and former National Native Title Spokesperson. He was previously an Acting Commissioner with the Land & Environment Court of NSW, and earlier a Member of the Land Tribunal of QLD.
John has served as Desane's Chairman since 1992 and as a non-executive Director since 1987. John is also a member of Desane's Risk Management & Audit Committee and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and the Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
Phil has served as Managing Director since the Company's incorporation. He has over thirty years experience in industrial asset management and the property investment sector, having developed many strong relationships and networks.
Phil is currently serving as Advisory Board Member of Multicultural NSW, as a Board Member of the Geographical Names Board of NSW and as Chairman of Multicultural NSW East Sydney Regional Advisory Council. Phil also served a term as a Board Member of the Sydney Bicentennial Park Authority and a term as a Board Member of the Co-operative Federation of NSW. He has also formerly served as President of the Police Community Youth Clubs Federation of NSW. Phil is also a member of Desane's Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
John joined Desane in 1989 as Financial Controller. In 2010 he was appointed as a Director. His role since 1989 has been extremely diverse, incorporating management roles in property development, property management and financial management of the business.
John is the Chairman of Desane's Risk Management & Audit Committee, a member of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety Committee. From 1989 to 2016, he served as Company Secretary. John is an Associate of the CPA.
Rick is the Company's Head of Property with more than 12 years' experience in the property services industry.
Rick is responsible for managing all aspects of the Company's property operations, including development site sales and acquisitions, project marketing, strategic planning and asset fund raising, as well as leasing, property management and reporting on the investment portfolio.
Rick is qualified as a licensed real estate agent and auctioneer, as well as a certified commercial property manager. In 2013, he was admitted as an Associate Member of the Australian Property Institute. Rick holds a degree in Economics from the University of Sydney and is currently studying towards a Master of Property at the University of Newcastle.
Jack joined Desane in 2001, where he has developed extensive experience in property reporting and corporate finance and was appointed as Company Secretary on 11 July 2016.
His role in the Company covers all aspects of financial control and capital management. This includes developing financial and tax strategies for the Group, monitoring and directing strategic business plans, investor relations, ASX compliance and corporate governance and overseeing the financial operations of all controlled entities. Jack is also responsible for reporting financial results to the Board and the market, managing debt financing and equity raising, as well as assisting in the fomulation of the Company's future direction and decision making as a member of the executive team.
Jack is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants and a registered Tax Agent.
